Motorcyclist suffers life-threatening injuries in crash on U.S. 40 in Kansas City

A motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries Wednesday evening after colliding with a Kia sedan on U.S. 40 highway near the Truman Sports complex, police said.

The crash occurred about 8:30 p.m. at U.S. 40 and Booth Avenue, the Kansas City Police Department said in an email.

According to the preliminary investigation, a Honda motorcycle had been headed south on Booth when it collided with a Kia sedan that was headed east on U.S. 40, police said.

The motorcyclist was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and was reported to be in critical condition, police said.

The driver of the Kia was not injured in the crash.

Witnesses told police that the motorcyclist ran a stop sign.
