22-year-old woman killed, two other people injured in car crash in Kansas City

A woman was killed and two other people were injured after a car crashed into a tree early Wednesday morning in the 1200 block of Topping Street, according to the Kansas City Police Department.

The crash happened near the intersection of East 12th and Topping streets when the driver of a northbound Ford Taurus sedan lost control and struck a tree on the west side of the street.

The front seat passenger, a 22-year-old Kansas City woman, died at the scene, police said.

The driver and a second passenger were taken to a hospital with serious injuries. A third passenger was not injured.
