Body of missing Kansas City woman found by relatives searching near Swope Park

Kansas City police are investigating after a woman who was reported missing earlier in the week was found dead Saturday morning near Swope Park.

Police have identified the woman as Renita Thompson, 28. She had been missing since Monday. Family members located Thompson while they were searching an area near Gregory Boulevard and Ewing Avenue.

The cause of death was under investigation, police said.

Police were called to the area about 9:43 a.m. after the body was found.
