U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds to fly in KC-area air show for first time in a decade

For the first time in more than a decade, the U.S. Air Force’s Thunderbirds will appear in an air show in the Kansas City area.

The shows will take place Sept. 5 and 6, 2020, in New Century, just west of Olathe.

The Thunderbirds last flew Kansas City’s skies in 2008, according to the KC Air Show, which will host the event.

The show will include several performers from across the U.S.

“We are delighted to announce what will be a wall-to-wall weekend of the best of the military, civilian and classic warbird performers,” said Kerry Floyd, president of the KC Air Show.

Tickets to see the Thunderbirds went on sale Tuesday.

The KC Air Show also said Tuesday that it will host the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels on July 3 and 4, 2021, at the Wheeler Downtown Airport.
