Baby male giraffe at Kansas City Zoo is named by donor
A male giraffe born Sept. 30 at the Kansas City Zoo has been named . . . Maxwell.
The name was chosen by a zoo donor, just as Dixie was chosen for a female giraffe that was born at the zoo in February.
Maxwell and Dixie have the same father but different mothers.
Maxwell will remain off exhibit for a few weeks, but the zoo has set up a live web cam in the giraffe barn. The zoo is offering an opportunity to “adopt” Maxwell for $75. It comes with a framed photo of him, a giraffe plush toy and other items.
