Kansas City police have released the name of a 36-year-old pedestrian who was struck and killed by a car Saturday night on Interstate 435 near Grandview Road.

Heather McBeewas hit by a silver Kia at about 8 p.m. in an eastbound lane of the highway near the Grandview Road overpass.

Police said the Kia was traveling in the left lane when it hit her. The driver told police that McBee ran into the right front side of his vehicle. He did not see her before the impact, so he did not know where she came from.

The driver pulled over and cooperated with police.

McBee was the second of three pedestrians killed by vehicles in Kansas City that weekend. Two other incidents were hit-and-run crashes, according to police.
