More than 100 additional coronavirus cases and one death reported Sunday in Missouri
The number of people who have tested positive for the new coronavirus in Missouri rose Sunday by more than 100, bringing the statewide total to 5,667.
The total number of deaths in Missouri rose by one Sunday, reaching 176. The statewide count includes 418 cases and 13 deaths in Kansas City, and 268 cases and eight deaths in Jackson County.
As of Sunday, St. Louis County has seen the most residents test positive for the virus, with 2,214 cases and 81 deaths. St. Louis city has seen 831 infections and 21 deaths.
Of COVID-19 deaths statewide, 66 patients were over the age of 80; 48 were in their 70s; 38 were in their 60s; 16 were in their 50s; five were in their 40s; and three were in their 30s.
More than 53,000 Missourians have been tested for the virus, according to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.
In Kansas, where fewer people have been tested, health officials reported 92 deaths and 1,849 cases statewide as of Sunday.
The virus has infected more than 2,375,000 people across the world and at least 164,716 have died.
In the United States, there have been more than 742,000 cases and 40,585 deaths, according to a database maintained by Johns Hopkins University.
