Seventy-seven cases of COVID-19 in Kansas City have been identified and confirmed in the city as of Friday, a 33% increase from the 58 cases previously reported on Thursday, according to statistics released by the city’s health department.
The Kansas City Health Department provided a breakdown of the COVID-19 cases by county as the city spans multiple counties. Of the 77 people who have tested positive for the novel coronavirus, 54 are from Jackson County, 19 are from Clay County and four are from Platte County.
The cases reported Friday in Kansas City were also broken down by the age range:
- One patient is between 13 and 19 years old
- 13 patients are in their 20s
- 17 patients are in their 30s
- 15 patients are in their 40s
- 12 patients are in their 50s
- 13 patients are in their 60s
- Five patients are in their 70s
- One patient is in their 90s
The totals reported locally are cases that have been verified by the Kansas City Health Department as of 2 p.m. each day, which may differ from figures reported by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.
In Missouri, at least 670 have tested positive for COVID-19. At least nine people have died in the state with the latest death reported in St. Louis County on Thursday.
Zero fatalities have been reported in Kansas City, though five people have died from the disease in surrounding areas: four across the state line in Kansas and one in eastern Jackson County.
To help slow the spread of the coronavirus, the city issued a stay-at-home order earlier this week, which is in effect now until April 24.
