Missouri has 670 coronavirus cases, a 25% increase in one day. At least 9 deaths reported

Missouri has 670 cases of the new coronavirus, the state said Friday, an increase of 25% over the previous day.

The ninth was reported out of St. Louis County on Thursday night: a woman in her 80s who had a chronic medical condition.

The number of COVID-19 patients in Missouri has climbed steeply. On Monday, the figure surpassed 100 cases. By Wednesday, 356 cases had been identified and on Thursday, there were 502 cases.

Gov. Mike Parson has activated the Missouri National Guard to help respond to the health crisis and President Donald Trump approved Parson’s request for a disaster declaration.

More than 97,000 cases have been reported in the U.S., according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
