Cass County up to six coronavirus cases Friday, health department says

A total of six cases of the new coronavirus have been identified in Cass County as of Friday afternoon, according to the county health department.

In a news release, the Cass County Health Department said two additional cases were confirmed: one in Belton and one in Raymore.

At least one case was identified in each of these cities previously.

“With more cases becoming more widespread,” the county health department said it will “no longer be reporting the locations or issuing press releases” for new cases in the future, the statement said. The number of COVID-19 cases will be updated on its website.

All of the affected individuals are currently in isolation and are following guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the health department stated.

Of the six patients, three tested positive for COVID-19 through a state laboratory and three tested positive for the virus through private laboratories.

The health department said it will continue to work with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services and the CDC to identify and reach out to people who may have come into contact with the patients.

Anyone who believes they have COVID-19 or have been in contact with someone with COVID-19 is asked to call and notify their health care provider before seeking care.
