Cass County up to four COVID-19 cases, health department says
The Cass County Health Department says four cases of the new coronarivus have been confirmed in the county as of Thursday evening.
That number includes the first case, which was reported Monday when a Drexel resident tested positive for COVID-19.
In a statement Thursday, the health department said three new cases have been identified, each located in Belton, Raymore and Creighton.
All of the affected individuals are currently in isolation and are following guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the health department stated.
Sarah Czech, a Cass County Health Department spokeswoman, said three of the cases were identified through testing conducted by state laboratories and one was identified through testing at a private laboratory.
The health department said it will continue to work with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services and the CDC to identify and reach out to people who may have come into contact with the patients.
Anyone who believes they have COVID-19 or have been in contact with someone with COVID-19 is asked to call and notify their health care provider before seeking care.
In Missouri, at least 28 cases have been reported as of Thursday, though that number provided by the state’s health department does not appear to include the Cass County cases announced Thursday evening.
