Kansas City now has 12 cases of new coronavirus, health department announces

A total of 12 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Kansas City as of Friday afternoon, according to a tweet from the city’s health department.

That’s up from six cases reported a day ago.

All of the patients, six men and six women, are recovering in their homes, the Kansas City Health Department stated.

The individuals affected range in age from “20s to 60s,” the health department wrote Friday.

Investigations are underway to determine who may have had close contact with the patients.

The first few cases were confirmed in the city on Wednesday.

The health department has not released further information on any of the cases that have been identified since then.

In Missouri, at least 47 cases have been reported by the state as of Friday morning. Two Missourians have died from the disease, including a woman in her 80s from eastern Jackson County.
