Five more cases of the novel coronavirus have been reported in Kansas as of Tuesday morning, according to local health officials.

Two of the confirmed cases of the COVID-19 virus were reported in Johnson County. No details were immediately available about those patients. The new cases bring the number of coronavirus cases identified in Johnson County to 10.

Two more cases were reported in Wyandotte County, where a man in his 70s died from the disease last week.

Officials said both patients, women in their 40s and 50s, were self-isolating at home.

“We are relieved that both patients are well enough to have been released from the hospital and wish them each a speedy recovery,” Kansas City, Kansas Mayor David Alvey said in a press release.

In Ford County, a woman in her 60s who recently traveled to the county also tested positive. The woman’s family is under quarantine.

The total number of cases identified so far in Kansas was brought to 16.

Nearly 4,500 cases have been confirmed nationwide. Public health officials have urged people across the country to avoid groups of more than 10 people to slow the spread of the virus. That is important to prevent health facilities from being overwhelmed.

President Donald Trump, along with local and state leaders, have urged older people to stay at home and said everyone should avoid crowds and eating out.

Johnson County public health officer Dr. Joseph LeMaster is scheduled to sign an order to close all schools in Johnson County through April 5 to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, according to county officials.

Missouri has eight cases of the new coronavirus with the latest case being reported Monday in Cass County. That patient, a man in Drexel, is in self-isolation, the Cass County Health Department said in a news release.
