Gambino’s Pizza has a new location inside the Town Pavilion building at 1111 Main St., where it took over the former Planet Sub space.

While the restaurant has some spots near Kansas City — in Gardner, Eudora and Spring Hill — this is the first spot in Kansas City proper.

Opened in late June, the franchise location is owned and operated by Chase White and managed by his partner Lucas Hothan, according to a news release from the company.

“We are excited to bring an entirely different kind of pizza to the Kansas City community,” Hothan said in the release. “We look forward to providing the wide array of high-quality, delicious food that Gambino’s Pizza is known for, along with the highest standard of service in a clean, family-friendly environment.”

Owned by In The Sauce Brands, Gambino’s offers pizza flavors like The Mobster (beef, pork sausage, mushroom, pepperoni, Italian sausage, green pepper, onion, black olives, Canadian bacon, salami and extra cheese), taco pizza (beef, onion, cheese blend, lettuce, refried beans, fresh tomato and taco sauce) and chicken teriyaki (teriyaki sauce, chicken, onions, green pepper, pineapple, cheese blend and bacon bits).

Customers can also build their own pies.

Sandwiches include the super Italian sub, meaty meatball and roast beef. Pasta and calzones are also on the menu.

On Mondays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Gambino’s will offer pizza by the slice.

Gambino’s is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturdays, and noon to 7 p.m. Sundays.

Previously, Gambino’s Pizza had spots in Grain Valley and Parkville. Its Lenexa spot, 8725 Bourgade St., closed a few years ago and is now home to Burg & Barrel.

The move to Kansas City’s second-tallest habitable building is a major switchup for the brand. Gambino’s is typically found in many small towns across Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Nebraska.

The new spot will neighbor concepts like Fat Bee Cafe and Jason’s Deli.
