It’s been just a few months since popular Johnson County hangout The Bar West vacated its space in Shawnee.

Already, a new sign is mounted on the building at 7174 Renner Road in Shawnee.

It reads: “Danny’s Burger Shack.” Underneath it, a banner states: “Coming soon.”

The burger restaurant, which has been serving Kansas Citians via food truck since 2021, offers burgers, chicken sandwiches, onion rings, fries and more. It’s had a permanent home in the Northland at 8002 N. Oak Trafficway since 2022, according to a conversation then-owner Daniel Kidwell had with industry publication America’s Best Restaurants.

Restaurant ownership did not respond to The Star’s requests for comment.

The new spot is already advertised on the Danny’s Burger Shack website. A month ago, Danny’s Burger Shack teased the idea of a new location in an Instagram post.

“Let’s just say … We’re pretty excited about what’s next,” the caption read, without revealing exactly where the new spot would be.

Items on Danny’s menu include the classic burger ($9), PB&J regular burger ($11), triple classic burger ($15), drunken ranch regular burger ($11), patty melt pounder ($17) and a burger of the month single burger ($11).

The Bar West, meanwhile, announced in May that it was putting its Shawnee location “out to pasture” after 16 years.

Amy Turpin, director of operations said that, as The Bar grew its footprint of bars in the area, the original spot no longer fit with the company’s vision.

As part of its evolution, the brand will open a new location in Olathe this September, at 17927 W. 119th St. It will have a mini golf course and 2,000 square-foot patio.

Local burger chain Sauced, meanwhile, has just reopened at 7 E. 18th St. after a several-month hiatus.

Disco Burger is looking to open its second location in Brookside soon at 600 E. 63rd St.
