Viral celebrity-owned shapewear brand will open on Kansas City’s Plaza
A popular celebrity-owned shapewear company is coming to Kansas City.
The viral brand, Skims, founded by reality TV star Kim Kardashian in 2019, is slated to open at 405 Nichols Road, on Kansas City’s Country Club Plaza, according to permit filings. It will take over the spot that was formerly Soft Surroundings, which closed in 2024.
Besides its famous shapewear, Skims also sells underwear, loungewear, swimsuits, menswear and more. The brand has not announced an opening date on its website.
Skims coming to the Plaza comes follows other recent opening announcements, including brands like Alo Yoga, Kansas City-area based clothing brand Mersa and local luxury consignment store, Do Good Co.
This will be the first Skims location in either Kansas or Missouri. There are 23 locations throughout the country.
In an email to The Star Thursday afternoon, Skims said they had no information to share. The Plaza did not respond to The Star’s request for comment.
