Openings & Closings

KC-area discount store closes multiple locations. One remains

Retail Rebel — a KC metro auction company and discount store — has closed three of its area locations.

The company announced via social media that its Olathe, Belton and Claycomo stores ceased operations Jan. 23.

“While this isn’t easy news, we believe in communicating clearly, respectfully, and with gratitude for the communities that have supported us,” the online memo reads.

Signs outside its closed stores direct customers to its remaining location in Kansas City, Kansas. That spot will remain open at 4301 State Ave. for both shopping and auctions.

“To everyone who shopped, bid, and treasure hunted with us at these locations — thank you! Your support has meant everything to us, and we’re grateful to continue serving the KC metro community,” the company said online.

Retail Rebel started in 2019 as a discount store called It’s $5. Today, it offers a variety of products sold at a flat-rate that drops daily.

Items are $11 on Saturday and drop to 60 cents per item by Friday, according to its website.

Retail Rebel’s KCK spot is open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
