Looking for a darts bar? New Crossroads spot promises ‘not your grandpa’s darts’

When customers reserve a dart lane at Kansas City’s newest entertainment bar, they’ll likely find it’s not quite the same game they once played in their basements.

Each of Arrow Dart Club’s 10 lanes contain steel-tipped darts that sink into a Winmau dart board. A computerized system with a touch-screen keeps score and allows customers to play along to several different arcade-style games, like Chutes & Ladders or Time’s Up — a take on the classic countdown game of 201 that features animated hourglasses.

It’s “not your grandpa’s darts,” as the bar boasted in a press statement.

Arrow Dart Club celebrated its grand opening Thursday, welcoming some of its first customers into the space.

Local group 916 Hospitality — which also operates sister concepts Cosmo Burger, Dodson’s and Goat & Rabbit — headed up the bar.

Atit and Jugal Patel are cousins and owners of the Arrow Dart Club at 1817 Locust St. in the Crossroads. Next door, Cosmo Burger serves triple burgers, Elvis milkshakes and more.

Cosmo Burger, as previously reported by The Star, was started by Jacob Kruger and once operated inside the Lenexa Public Market. Cosmo left its Johnson County stand to open its first brick and mortar in July.

While Arrow Dart Club and Cosmo Burger are neighbors, they’re completely separate concepts with different menus.

Arrow Dart Club’s menu was crafted by Christian Castillo from The Town Company, and it includes battered fries, esquites, Thai chimichurri wings and fried chicken sliders.

For drinks: The Bounce Out for $14 (mezcal, sweet vermouth, lavender syrup, lemon juice and sparkling wine), 201 & Done for $13 (tequila, dry curacao, turmeric, agave, lime and Hawaiian black lava salt), an Arrowade seltzer for $8 (carbonated tequila and electrolyte acids) and more.

There is, however, one nod to Arrow Dart Club’s neighbor: Their fried pickles are served with a side of Cosmo Burger’s specialty sauce.

The space also has bar and table seating for those who just want to enjoy company and beverages. A large screen stretches across one wall, playing scenes from big games.

An upcoming wine bar concept called Sunken Cork is hidden within the 8,300 square-foot space. Past the entrance and around the corner, customers will notice an open doorway marked off by velvet ropes.

Jessica Teliczan, a spokeswoman with 916, said that Sunken Cork is still a few weeks away from opening.

Reservations are recommended for Arrow Dart Club and can be made online at arrowdartclub.com. Up to 12 customers can play per lane.

The spot’s hours are 4 p.m. to midnight Mondays through Thursdays, 4 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Fridays, 11 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to midnight Sundays.
