Atomic Cowboy, which opened in 2020 with multiple concepts under its roof at 4141 Pennsylvania Ave., is closing.

Its last day of service is this Sunday, May 18.

“We’re incredibly grateful to the neighborhood and community for supporting us over the years — we’ve loved being part of it,” a spokesperson for Atomic Cowboy told The Star.

Founder Drew Shader spent several years renovating the Westport structure once known as the City Ice House, which dates back to the early 1900s. He opened four concepts there in 2020 that aimed to serve customers from breakfast through late night.

That included a bar and lounge called Atomic Cowboy, a New York-style pizza place called Fat Sully’s, a brunch joint called Denver Biscuit Co., and an ice cream shop called Frozen Gold.

Frozen Gold closed last year but the other three concepts remained open. Fat Sully’s and Atomic Cowboy will permanently close after Saturday night. Denver Biscuit Co. will serve until 3 p.m. Sunday.

Although the Westport location is closing, the brand is not leaving the Kansas City area. Another Atomic Cowboy location remains open at 7101 W. 80th St. in downtown Overland Park, where diners can still find Denver Biscuit Co. favorites and Fat Sully’s pizza.
