After closing spot on KC’s Plaza, owners open sushi restaurant a few miles away
The owners of a former Country Club Plaza poke restaurant have headed west.
A few minutes west on 47th Street, that is.
After closing Hokibar at 100 Ward Parkway in March, Ket Kiun Lo is partnering with two others to open a new space with an expansive menu.
Sannin, 2820 W. 47th Ave. in Kansas City, Kansas, opened in the Northwood shopping center a few days ago, serving sushi, poke, ramen and more.
It’s taking over the former Kind Food space, which closed last year.
Upon entering, customers will notice several kiosks in the front of the restaurant. It’s there that they can order a variety of Asian dishes — chicken teriyaki, sashimi, pork gyoza and more.
At one station, workers load up customizable poke bowls. At another, an employee cuts and rolls fish into a seaweed wrap.
Sushi rolls on the menu include the KC Chiefs Roll (shrimp tempura, crab, avocado, tuna, eel sauce, spicy mango, masago and tempura crunch) and 911 Roll (spicy tuna, jalapeno and cucumber topped with a spicy sauce).
Sannin is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays, and 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
Lo opened Hokibar on the Plaza in 2022, before expanding it to Johnson County the following year. It still has a spot at 13366 Metcalf Ave. in Overland Park.
In Olathe, QZ Poke and Ramen is gearing up to open its fifth area location in a former Fuzzy’s Taco Shop at 13505 S. Mur-Len Road, Suite 100.
