Chicken salad chain is set to open its first Kansas City area restaurant. Here’s when
Georgia-based Chicken Salad Chick will soon open its first Kansas City area restaurant.
The chicken salad chain will open the Lee’s Summit location, 1020 N.W. Pryor Road, on Dec. 10, according to a news release from the company.
The restaurant is in Lee’s Summit’s burgeoning Streets of West Pryor development, which will also include restaurants Nick the Greek and Iowa-based 30hop.
At the Chicken Salad Chick opening, the first guest in line will win one large chicken salad per week for an entire year. The subsequent 99 guests will win one chicken salad per month for a year.
The Lee’s Summit restaurant will be the first of five locations in the Kansas City area, with three coming to Johnson County and one on its way to Blue Springs.
Sisters Jo Anne Williams and Cindy Sulzman, franchisees of the Johnson County stores, said in a previous interview that they fell in love with the chain after trying it in Destin, Florida.
Williams told The Star Wednesday morning they’re working on several letters of intent for the Johnson County spaces, with projected opening dates in the first quarter of 2025.
Items on the restaurant’s menu include the chicken salad BLT, Olivia’s Old South (chicken salad with sweet pickles and egg), Fruity Fran (chicken salad with seedless grapes, Fiji apples and pineapple) and Kickin’ Kay Lynne (chicken salad with buffalo sauce, ranch, bacon, shredded cheddar cheese, jalapenos and Sriracha).
Chicken Salad Chick has been attempting to enter the Kansas City market for three years. It originally announced the opening of a Lee’s Summit location in 2021, set to open the following year. But it never came to fruition.
Information on the Blue Springs location’s opening date was not immediately available Wednesday morning.
