From 1988 until the pandemic, Red Dragon House operated in a corner building downtown at 312 W. Eighth St.

Now, another Asian restaurant has moved into the space: a Chinese and Vietnamese operation aptly named Asian Cafe.

Owner Joseph Vong said he spent most of 2023 renovating the space. It opened in December.

“We get a lot of neighborhood business from people who live down here,” he said, “and we’re trying to pick up more during lunch hour for office workers.”

The menu includes Chinese options like General Tso, Kung Pao and shrimp rolls, plus Vietnamese choices including pho, buns and a banh mi.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day.
