This Kansas City Panera location to close next week. Only 3 will remain within the city

Panera Bread will close its location at 1850 W. 39th St. at the end of October, an employee working at the restaurant confirmed to The Star on Friday.

Representatives from Panera’s corporate headquarters did not respond to a request for comment. Neither did Price Brothers, which manages the property. The restaurant operates on the ground floor of the West 39th Street Apartments.

Panera closed its Brookside location abruptly in 2022. It has since been replaced by Meddy’s, a fast-casual Mediterranean restaurant based in Wichita.

Panera locations in Kansas City are still open at Crown Center, on the Country Club Plaza and near the intersection of 103rd Street and State Line Road. Many more continue to operate in the suburbs, serving sandwiches, soups, salads, coffee and baked goods.
