Westlake Ace Hardware at 12202 College Blvd. in Overland Park is closing its doors after decades in the business — but the local chain’s other area locations will remain open.

Manager Erika Tritz said the store’s final day will be Aug. 26, with select merchandise marked 75% off until then.

The location opened as Goodman Ace Hardware in 1989. In 1997, the store reopened as Westlake Ace Hardware, The Star reported that year.

Based in Lenexa, Westlake owns and runs more than 150 Ace Hardware stores across 12 states, with nearly two dozen stores in the Kansas City area.

Nearby Overland Park locations include 9301 Santa Fe Drive and 7821 W. 151st St.

“We’re opening up several new locations in Kansas City, so it’s not like Westlake is leaving,” Tritz said. “Nobody here is losing their job.”
