This combo gelato-chocolate shop is set to open its third Johnson County location
A Johnson County gelato shop is opening its third location this fall in downtown Overland Park — with a specialty chocolate shop attached.
The Flying Cow Gelato Shop, a sister store of Annedore’s Fine Chocolates, has locations in Westwood Hills at 1903 W. 50th St. and Shawnee at 11210 Johnson Drive.
Its newest spot will be at 7321 W. 80th St.
The Annedore’s side of the business will face the street, and Flying Cow’s entrance will open onto the Strang Hall food hall.
Owner Sheri Weedman purchased the Annedore’s Westwood Hills location 16 years ago and opened Flying Cow inside the chocolate shop in 2022.
This spring, she opened her second location in Shawnee.
After months of successful business in “neighborhood shops,” Weedman said she’s ready to take on the foot traffic of downtown Overland Park, close to the farmers market and several other popular local businesses.
“Our gelato is all handmade, and it’s something special, and downtown Overland Park is something special,” she said.
Flying Cow serves such flavors as grapefruit prosecco, dark chocolate, birthday cake and mint chip. Some of the gelato flavors are made with Annedore’s chocolates and caramels.
“You make it, you serve it, and it’s happiness,” Weedman said.
The new location will be part of the Edison District, which includes Strang Hall and thousands of square feet of retail space around West 80th and Marty streets.
A new Made in KC location will sit next to the gelato shop at 7325 W. 80th St. and will be ready to open sometime in July, according to the developer.
