A new Made in Kansas City store is set to open in downtown Overland Park this summer, offering a variety of locally made goods.

With 18 locations across the Kansas City area, the company also owns cafes, bars and marketplaces — some even feature entertainment options, like shuffleboard lanes at its Lenexa City Center and Martini Corner locations.

The storefront at 7325 W. 80th St. will sell home goods, apparel and more from dozens of local businesses and makers.

Co-owner Keith Bradley said he wanted to bring something unique to the busy area, which draws hundreds of shoppers on Saturdays for its farmers market. The shop will be right next to Strang Hall.

“Anybody who goes to the farmers market understands the importance of shopping locally, and this is just with a slightly different category,” he said.

“Our goal is to make shopping local a part of everyday life, and so this just adds to that mission.”

Bradley said the shop will be one of the biggest of Made In KC’s six neighborhood shops, though its marketplaces are generally the largest.

Other Johnson County locations include neighborhood shops in Overland Park’s Prairiefire and Prairie Village’s Corinth Square.

No two Made in KC stores are alike, Bradley said. This location plans to have a more complete kids section.

The exact opening date is not yet set.
