Yet another Kansas City area Whataburger opens. Here’s when nine more will arrive
Another Whataburger has opened in Overland Park, this one owned by KMO Burger, the franchise group that includes Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and Whataburger fan Patrick Mahomes.
The chain and KMO Burger opened the location Monday at 11300 Nall Ave. Whataburger has another Overland Park location at 8420 W. 135th St., along with restaurants in Blue Springs, Independence, Lee’s Summit and Kansas City, Kansas.
Here’s the latest timeline for other area Whataburger openings:
2022 Whataburger openings
▪ 1921 W. Foxwood Drive in Raymore. Late 2022.
▪ Metro North Crossing, 600 N.W. Barry Road. Late 2022.
2023 openings
▪ 9505 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park.
▪ 7791 W. 159th St., Overland Park.
▪ 5630 Bannister Road.
▪ 14123 W. 135th St., Olathe (near Menards).
▪ 9100 block of Missouri 45, Parkville.
▪ Missouri 152 and North Booth Avenue (near Liberty).
▪ 8851 N. Ambassador Drive.
Another is planned for 707 W. 23rd St., Lawrence, but no opening date was available.
A spokeswoman said more specific dates will be released closer to the openings.
The Texas-based Whataburger is known for its made-to-order burgers. It also has breakfast items, fries with dipping sauces including jalapeno ranch and honey barbecue, onion rings, salads, shakes and desserts.
It opened its first area location in Lee’s Summit a year ago. Mahomes’ franchise group said it planned to open 30 locations from Wichita to St. Joseph.
