Grab a drink and play shuffleboard or Ms. Pac-Man at this new midtown Kansas City bar
Socialize, drink, play.
That’s the theme behind the new Ludo’s Shuffleboard Bar. It softly opened this past week in midtown’s Martini Corner.
“The area has waxed and waned in popularity, but I think it is on the verge of another resurgence,” said Keith Bradley, a partner in the new venue with Tyler Enders and Thomas McIntyre. “We wanted to bring something different to the area.”
Ludo’s, at 325 E. 31st St., has three shuffleboard lanes, along with other games including a couple of vintage Gottlieb’s pinball machines, and Ms. Pac-Man and Space Invaders.
It has beer (draft, canned and bottled), cocktails and wine. The partners plan to add bar snacks later, perhaps hot pretzels and nachos, but customers can bring in food. There’s seating at the bar and some tables in the back.
On Thursday, Kerry and Brenda Bishop made the drive from the Liberty area, meeting their son and his girlfriend who came in from Overland Park. They like to get together and try something new, Brenda Bishop said.
Hours are currently 4 to 10 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. The cost is $10 for 30 minutes of play.
The grand opening will be on May 7, with details still being worked out.
Ludo’s also can be booked for corporate events, birthday and bachelor/bachelorette parties and other get-togethers.
The Ludo’s partners also own the Made in KC locations — including one next to Ludo’s — and they have their offices in the building. They opened a Made in KC Cafe there in February, and they also staff the Black Pantry store in the building.
