Nordstrom Rack shopping center in Johnson County sold to local owners for nearly $40M
Lenexa’s Orchard Corners Shopping Center, just west of Oak Park Mall, has been sold for nearly $40 million.
David M. Block, president of Block & Company Inc. Realtors, represented the local investors. Principles of Block & Company have been minority partners in the center for more than 40 years. David Block will be a new partner along with Doug Compton, a Lawrence-based real estate developer. Wells Fargo financed the buyers.
CBRE represented the local sellers, Orchard Corners LLC.
Block said he was very excited for the opportunity to represent this “signature property and for it to remain in local hands.”
“This transaction closed in approximately 60 days. So it was a lightning speed closing from start to finish. Which is kind of unheard of,” he said.
Tenants in the 200,000-square-foot center include Nordstrom Rack, T.J. Maxx, HomeGoods and Michaels, along with freestanding operations such as KFC and Taco Bell. One 37,000-square-foot space, formerly a Stein Mart, is still available, along with two smaller spaces.
Block & Company Inc. Realtors will continue to manage the property.
The center, on 19 acres at the southwest corner of 95th Street and Quivira Road, was built in 1971 and renovated in the 1990s. Oak Park Mall officially opened in August 1975.
