Eyewear chain LensCrafters has taken out a permit for 219 Nichols Road, part of the old Halls department store on the Country Club Plaza.

LensCrafters officials did not return emails seeking comment.

A Plaza spokeswoman said confirmation on openings would have to come from the brand.

The Halls building was redeveloped as Plaza 211 with Apple opening on the west end in mid-2016. Marine Layer opened in 2017.

Nike opened on the east end in 2017 but recently closed. Nike officials did not return phone calls.

Bonobos, which has a location in Leawood, had previously taken out a work permit for 219 Nichols.

Halls closed its longtime Plaza store in 2014 to consolidate it with a relocated and expanded Crown Center store.

When the Halls redevelopment was announced, Plaza officials said it could have six to eight retailers, mostly upscale, exclusive tenants to the Plaza, as well as one or two restaurants.
