High-end streetwear shop coming to long-empty spot on Kansas City Country Club Plaza
A Crossroads retailer is expanding with a new high-end streetwear store set to open on the Country Club Plaza.
Justin Ji’s Archive is taking a long empty space at 230 Nichols Road, by Tivol, for a mid-July opening.
Brands will include Comme des Garçons, Heron Preston, Off-White, Rhude, Stüssy, Billionaire Boys Club, Icecream, New Balance, Suicoke and Converse.
Ji previously opened a sneaker and streetwear shop, Volume 1ne (pronounced one), in 2013. It stood out in Westport with its loft-like setting, white walls, and floor-to-ceiling windows along Westport Road.
When his lease was up five years later, he purchased a Crossroads building at 1919 Wyandotte St. and relocated. He also opened a. Gallery by Volume 1ne. Architect One and other tenants also operate in the building.
He signed a year lease for the new Plaza spot.
“I’ve always wanted to go to the Plaza, to be in the best shopping district in Kansas City,” said Ji, who was born in China and came to the U.S. around 2000 to attend the University of Kansas.
