Free meal a week for a year? New Kansas City Hawaiian Bros to open with giveaways
Kansas City’s Hawaiian Bros Island Grill will celebrate its newest location with grand opening prizes.
The first 100 customers in line at the Ward Parkway Center location at 11 a.m. Wednesday will receive a free Hawaiian Bros gift card with a value between $25 and $500. One person will receive a free Hawaiian Bros meal for a year (a meal and a drink each week for a year).
The restaurant is opening in a previously vacant space in the center’s Restaurant Pavilion, 8805 State Line Road.
Hawaiian Bros is known for its traditional Hawaiian plate lunch, with a scoop of white rice, a scoop of macaroni salad and a protein — slow-roasted pork, grilled teriyaki chicken, and sweet-and-spicy chicken.
Other new locations are in the works in Independence for a June opening, in Lenexa for July, and south Overland Park (in a former Burger King) for August. The company also is finalizing plans for a midtown location for a July opening, and the Metro North Crossing area for later this year.
In addition, Hawaiian Bros is opening at least 15 locations in Texas this year. It wants to have more than 30 locations by the end of the year.
