Only one Kansas City restaurant is on US ‘Top 100 Places to Eat’ list. Yep, it’s BBQ

Yelp has released its new “Top 100 Places to Eat in 2021” list and only one Kansas City area restaurant made the cut: Fiorella’s Jack Stack Barbecue.

The Overland Park-based company, which is No. 94 on the list, has five area locations with another opening soon in Lenexa.

In December, Yelp, a user-generated review site, asked its “Yelpers” for their favorite restaurants — from lunchtime go-tos to special occasion spots that they can’t wait to return to. Yelp also analyzes ratings and reviews to determine its list of “must-try’ restaurants.

Olive + Oak in the St. Louis area is No. 50 on the list.

The top restaurant, Kelley Farm Kitchen, is a vegan restaurant in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, owned by a couple.

Yelp said searches for women-owned businesses were up 2,739% in 2020, compared to 2019, and mentions of “plant-based” in reviews were up 26% for the same period.

At nearly all the Top 100, consumers can eat for under $30 per person, and most of the restaurants are new to the list.
