Temporary shutdowns in KC area: Bagel bakery, fast food restaurant correct violations

Two area operations temporarily shut down recently to correct health code violations.

The Kansas Department of Agriculture cited Bagel Works Bread Co., 1523 S. 45th St., Kansas City, Kansas, during a Feb. 20 inspection. According to the report, it had no hot water and an employee stated he “noticed the absence of hot water in the facility a few days ago.”

Bagel Works temporarily shut down to put in a new hot water heater. It was then reinspected and allowed to reopen later that day.

Company officials declined to comment.

The Kansas City Health Department cited Taco Bell, 9571 N. McGee St., after a Feb. 10 inspection when none of the four employees had a food handler card and no certified manager was in the food service area at the time of the inspection.

It had no critical violations during a Feb. 11 follow-up inspection and was allowed to reopen.

The district manager declined to comment.
