Lee’s Summit sushi restaurant had to temporarily close for health code violations

Jackson County Environmental Health Division cited Mr. Sushi for numerous health code violations, and the longtime Lee’s Summit restaurant temporarily closed to fix the problems.

Mr. Sushi, at 995 N.E. Rice Road, had 10 priority violations during a Feb. 7 routine inspection and 13 core (or non-priority) violations. The violations included a dirty microwave; dirty bowls stored as clean; numerous containers of food uncovered in the walk-in freezer, walk-in cooler, reach-in coolers and on the shelves; cut fruit and salad dressing held at improper temperature; a hand sink next to the sushi bar that didn’t work; and no hand sink in the hibachi prep area.

The restaurant passed a follow-up inspection on Saturday and was allowed to reopen.

“We’re trying everything we can to keep it clean,” said Ryan Wang, manager.

Mr. Sushi opened in Lee’s Summit in 2003.
