A veteran hospitality executive from Washington, D.C., has been appointed president and CEO of the Kansas City Convention & Visitors Association.
Ronnie Burt has more than 23 years of experience in the convention and tourism industry. He currently serves as vice president of sales and services for Destination DC, the lead organization that manages and markets the nation’s capital as a convention and tourism hub.
Burt’s job will be to promote Kansas City as a premier destination for meetings, events, tourists and conventions. If Kansas City is selected to host the 2016 Republican National Convention, Burt will be a key player in the local organizing.
Burt begins his new job June 11. Jon Stephens has been doing the job on an interim basis for nearly a year and will now return to a seat on the association’s board.
Rick Hughes retired as CVA president and CEO in June 2013 after 10 years in the post.
