The best Mexican restaurant in Kansas is this KCK taco shop, new ranking says
The Kansas City, Kansas Taco Trail includes the best Mexican restaurant in the state, according to a new ranking from a popular food review website.
Tasting Table, which provides recipes, reviews and dining advice to its readers, ranked the “The Absolute Best Mexican Restaurant In Every State In The US.” The restaurant selected for Kansas? Carniceria y Tortilleria San Antonio, 830 Kansas Ave.
The website started its search for the best in each state by looking at reviews, ratings and recommendations on social media. They then looked for defining characteristics, such as:
- Restaurants that advertised menus taking inspiration from specific areas of Mexico.
- Serving up family recipes from south of the border.
- Locally-sourced or imported ingredients from Mexico
In its review of San Antonio, Tasting Table said that the best street tacos around are found here. They quoted one Texas native who said that the food here is “so legitimately delicious that it moved them to tears.”
The tacos are served with just a soft tortilla and the meat of your choice. From there, customers can dress their ideal street taco over at the self-service taco bar with chopped onions, cilantro, limes, pico de gallo and four different salsas.
Tasting Table gave a shoutout to the taco shop for giving customers and also to the grocery store inside, where you can buy the meat, tortillas and other items for home.
“Carniceria y Tortilleria San Antonio might be in Kansas, but this aptly-named place is serving up all the flavors of the border,” the review said.
Missouri’s best Mexican restaurant on the list is Cesar’s Old Mexico, located in Springfield.
