Police release name of woman killed Saturday in one-car crash on Missouri 169

Kansas City police on Monday identified a woman killed in a fiery crash on Missouri 169 early Saturday morning as 22-year-old Kenisha L. Turner, of Kansas City, Missouri.

The crash happened just before 2 a.m. Saturday when Turner was seen driving a green GMC Yukon at a “very high rate of speed” south on the highway near Missouri 9, police said.

A witness told police that Turner lost control of the vehicle, which struck a guardrail before it went across lanes of traffic, became airborne over the concrete jersey barrier and fell 80 feet. Then, it hit a tree and burst into flames.

At some point, Turner was ejected from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

No one else was in the vehicle.

This was Kansas City’s 10th fatal crash, police said.
