Woman shot in south Kansas City neighborhood, dies at hospital, police say
Update: Police on Sunday reclassified the case as a death investigation, not a homicide.
A woman died Saturday following a shooting in a south Kansas City neighborhood, police said.
Police were called to a house in the 6900 block of East 114th Street around 1:30 p.m. in regard to a shooting.
Kansas City Police Capt. Lionel Colón said officers arrived and found several people rendering aid to a woman suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
The woman was taken to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead. Her death is being investigated as a homicide, the 109th reported in Kansas City this year.
Police were still investigating what led up to the shooting and talking to witnesses.
The victim’s identity has not yet been released.
The investigation was ongoing.
