A Monday night shooting is now being investigated as a homicide.
At around 8:30 p.m. Kansas City police say they were called to a residence in the 3600 block of Mersington Avenue on a shooting where they found a man suffering from life-threatening gunshot injuries.
The man was transported to a local hospital by the Kansas City Fire Department where he was pronounced dead.
Police say the shooting happened as a result of "some type of family dispute" that occurred at the residence. No suspect information has been released.
The two homicides are the 45th and 46th homicides of the year. The numbers mirror exactly 2017's totals, when by May 21st Kansas City had also recorded 46 homicides.
