One dead after rolling gun battle in Kansas City
Kansas City police are investigating a homicide after a rolling gun battle Monday afternoon left one man dead.
Just before 4 p.m. police responded to calls of shots fired near 44th and Lawn Avenue. They found a brown SUV "riddled" with bullets and a deceased shooting victim inside, police said.
A neighbor mentioned hearing "more than 20 shots" in rapid succession at around the time the crime was reported.
Police say parties from both vehicles fled the scene:
"There were other people that were in this vehicle as well as the other vehicle that was involved in the apparent rolling gun battle," said police spokeswoman Kari Thompson.
The victim is described as a black male. Police also say they are looking for a second victim at area hospitals.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-8477.
This is a developing story.
