Get ready, Swifties. Taylor Swift makes her long-awaited return at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in less than a week.
Along with over 55,000 fans screaming every lyric to every song, concert-goers mix in their own chants during the songs.
Many of her fans are learning these chants for the first time, and more are searching for information, so they aren’t left out.
Angelica Yosveline, a Lawrence native and Swiftie, prepped The Star on what to expect during the 44-song show.
You can see examples of the chants here.
“ALL TOO WELL (10 MINUTE VERSION)”
During the 10-minute song from “Red (Taylor’s Version),” fans ask Swift “How’d that make you feel?” before she sings, “You said if we had been closer in age maybe it would have been fine.”
Swift’s response? “That made me want to die.” The chant acts as a check-in on Swift’s feelings since the song is about a past relationship.
“ANTI-HERO”
“Taylor, you’ll be fine,” can be heard during the bridge. The chant mirrors song producer Jack Antonoff’s voice in the recording of the “Anti-Hero” remix featuring his band, Bleachers.
“BAD BLOOD”
This song had a remix featuring rapper Kendrick Lamar. During the bridge, fans yell, “You forgive, you forget, but you never let it go,” which is one of the lyrics Lamar sang in their collaboration.
This comes after she sings, “Band-Aids don’t fix bullet holes. You say sorry just for show.
If you live like that, you live with ghosts.”
You might also hear fans say “Hey stop,” after she sings “Cause baby, now we’ve got bad blood.” A moment with Swift defending a fan from a security guard during her tour went viral, and it’s taken on a life of its own with the Swifties.
“BLANK SPACE”
Fans scream “KC” for Kansas City during the bridge in between the lyric breaks. This continues until she plays the chorus again.
The ritual started during Swift’s “1989” tour when she showed off her looping device by saying the city’s name. During the Eras tour, other fans chanted their city’s name during the same part of this song.
“DELICATE”
This one started as an inside joke and has now been embraced by the Swifties. During the song’s intro, fans yell “1, 2, 3, let’s go b—.”
You can say this after she sings “We can’t make any promises, now can we, babe? But you can make me a drink.”
The chant started after a fan once yelled it during Swift’s “Reputation” tour in 2018 and posted the video on Twitter. It got Swift’s attention and made it a part of her set.
“ENCHANTED”
This one’s not a chant, but for the only song from “Speak Now” that made the 44-song cut that isn’t a surprise song, Yosveline and other fans are planning to light up the night by turning on their phone’s flashlights during the intro of the song.
“YOU BELONG WITH ME”
During the bridge, fans clap twice after she sings “I’m the one who makes you laugh, when you know you’re about to cry.” The claps mirror the recorded claps in the song.
