Here’s how the Morton Amphitheater will welcome Kansas Citians to new venue
Kansas City-area concertgoers can get their first look at Morton Amphitheater at a newly announced benefit concert supporting a local charity associated with celebrity-led fundraiser Thundergong!
The Live Nation-backed concert venue in Riverside announced that the Sunset Soundcheck will set the scene two days before pop star Kesha takes the stage, and before more than 35 shows flood the venue from June to October.
The venue will be open from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Monday, June 1, for visitors to check out the open-area pavilion, the VIP-exclusive Vinyl Room, the 12,000 seats and the additional lawn sections that add 4,000 to the amphitheater’s capacity.
Performing at Sunset Soundcheck is Summer Breeze, a local yacht rock tribute band led by drummer Billy Brimblecom Jr. He’s also the CEO of the nonprofit Steps of Faith Foundation, which benefits amputees by providing prosthetics to those without health insurance.
The foundation has assisted more than 1,800 people since it began in 2013 and raised $1.1 million at 2025’s edition of Thundergong!, led by Brimblecom’s friend and “Ted Lasso” star Jason Sudeikis.
Tickets cost $10 on Ticketmaster and seating is first-come, first-served. All face-value proceeds will be donated to Steps of Faith, the amphitheater said.
