Newly independent pop star Kesha is coming to the Kansas City area
The Kansas City area’s newest concert venue gets another dose of pop music with its 41st headliner joining its inaugural season.
Kesha, the 2010s pop star with chart-topping hits like “TiK ToK, “Blow” and “Die Young,” is heading to Morton Amphitheater in Riverside on Wednesday, June 3, as a part of The Freedom Tour. As of Monday, March 23, the artist formerly known as Ke$ha is scheduled to be the first performer to take the stage at the venue.
The tour is named after the first song on her 2025 album, “.” or “Period.” It’s also a celebration of Kesha becoming an independent artist and starting her own record label.
She was in a near decade-long legal battle with her former producer, Dr. Luke, who she said sexually assaulted her. The fight was tied into her contracts with RCA Records and Kemosabe Records, which is owned by Dr. Luke. The contracts expired in 2023 after she released her album “Eat The Acid.”
“I’ve lived through the fire,” she said in a statement. “This tour is about what comes after. Freedom isn’t just leaving something behind — it’s discovering that what you have lived through has made you magnificently who you are.”
Tickets for the 39-year-old Los Angeles native’s 25-show tour, including the stop in Riverside, go on sale at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, on Ticketmaster for Citi card members. A Live Nation presale begins at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 26, and tickets go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Friday, March 27.
Canadian electronic duo Chromeo and American alternative singer Sizzy Rocket will join Kesha during her stop in Riverside.
The Freedom Tour will mark the first time Kesha has performed in the Kansas City area since 2017, when she took The Rainbow Tour to Uptown Theater. She was scheduled to perform at Starlight Theatre in 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic led to the tour being canceled.
