This country icon returns to KC area in August for concert at new amphitheater

Morton Amphitheater, the newest concert venue in Riverside, has a busy first year developing, and it’s only getting busier. Its latest announcement brings a country icon to the Kansas City area.

The amphitheater revealed on social media Tuesday, Feb. 3, that Tim McGraw will make his return to the region Friday, Aug. 21, as a part of his Pawn Shop Guitar Tour. Tickets go on sale for members of the Tim McGraw fan club at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, on Ticketmaster.

Numerous presales are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, for users of services like Spotify and Mastercard, and the general public can purchase tickets at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 6.

McGraw teased his supporting musicians in a statement Tuesday, Feb. 3, from Big Machine Label Group.

“The band and I are so excited to get back out on the road this summer. And we’ve got three really special stadium shows – with some really special guests,” McGraw said. “This will be a great night of incredible songs and musicianship .”

The singer mentioned The Chicks and Lady A as part of his stadium shows, and said 49 Winchester and Timothy Wayne will perform as supporting acts for select dates. But no opener has been set for McGraw’s Riverside spot as of Tuesday afternoon.

The three-time Grammy Award and 14-time Academy of Country Music award-winning singer and songwriter has been busy acting as of late. He’s appeared in a starring role in “1883,” a spinoff of the popular TV series “Yellowstone,” alongside his wife and fellow country star, Faith Hill.

He’s sold over 106 million records worldwide and holds the record for second-most No. 1 albums in the U.S., behind country legend George Strait, according to his label.

He was last in Kansas City in June 2024 as a part of his Standing Room Only Tour at T-Mobile Center. The new tour follows a sold-out residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in December 2025.
