More about KC’s Jason Sudeikis and ‘Ted Lasso’

Jason Sudeikis, who grew up in Overland Park, created and stars in the acclaimed Apple TV+ series “Ted Lasso.”

Expand All

Jason Sudeikis could not make it back to his hometown in June to co-host Big Slick Celebrity Weekend, the annual fundraiser for Children’s Mercy, because filming for “Ted Lasso” interfered.

Apparently that won’t be a factor later this fall, because Sudeikis will be returning for his other annual Kansas City fundraiser, Thundergong!, at the Uptown Theater on Nov. 12.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday. See thundergong.org.

Guests already announced include Brendan Hunt, who plays Coach Beard on “Ted Lasso,” and Sudeikis’ fellow “Saturday Night Live” alum Fred Armisen.

The music and comedy show benefits the Steps of Faith Foundation, created by Sudeikis’ old friend Billy Brimblecom Jr. to help get prosthetic devices for people with amputations.

Earlier this month, “Ted Lasso” picked up four Emmy Awards, including best comedy series and best actor for Sudeikis.
