'We keep ruining our weekends': Kansas City is about to get more wintry weather

Time to pull out your sweaters and coats again, Kansas City.

It’s been a roller coaster of a week for weather.

After 80-degree temperatures a few days ago, a light wintry mix is possible Saturday night and Sunday morning. That would be the third consecutive Sunday of winter weather.

“We keep ruining our weekends,” said Jonathan Kurtz, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill.

On Saturday, temperatures will hang in the 40s and turn into a light drizzle and possible light snowflakes.

If we get any snow overnight, it will be a dusting, Kurtz said.

Then, we’ll return to winter Sunday morning with a 29 degree low and highs in the upper 30s.

But by Tuesday, it will feel more like spring — again — as temperatures reach into the 70s.

The frigid temperatures Sunday will damage or kill plants sensitive to an early spring hard freeze.

Sorry, gardeners, Kurtz couldn't say whether this would be the final freeze of the season.

We may have one or two more — at least, he said.
