Peter Moylan, Jeff Francoeur blast baseball about replay problems
Perhaps you missed this, but Major League Baseball has made a concerted effort to get players to wear cleats with the correct color scheme.
Odd, right?
Well, former Royals pitcher Peter Moylan, who is now with the Braves, thinks so. In fact, he mentioned the league's fashion obsession while venting on Twitter about its trouble with instant replay.
Moylan's anger came after Atlanta's 3-2 loss to the Cubs on Tuesday when a replay review didn't go the Braves' way and cost them a run.
And because the Braves lost the first challenge, they couldn't ask for the umpires to take a look at a second call that was missed.
After the game, Moylan tweeted: "Maybe worry less about shoes and get replay right!"
Here are the two plays in question:
The play at the plate seems especially bad, because you can see Johan Camargo's hand touch the plate before he is tagged.* That cost Atlanta a run, and later the Braves couldn't ask for umpires to review an obvious missed call at third base because they'd used their challenge.
*Unless you heard Yanny in that recording, but that's another story
After the game, another former Royal, Jeff Francoeur, said baseball needs to fix replay or get rid of it.
