For Pete's Sake

North Carolina coach Roy Williams tried to rip his suit jacket in half. It didn't go well.

North Carolina coach Roy Williams is 67 years old, but there is still a fire burning inside him.

In fact, during the Tar Heels' ACC Tournament game Wednesday against Syracuse, Williams was so upset with his team that he tried to rip his suit coat in half.

He was unsuccessful.

"I did not do it properly, I started around the collar where it's folded over so the material is twice a strong. If you really want to rip a jacket in half, started at the back at the bottom where it's already split," Williams told reporters after the game.

"I have never tried to rip one. It's embarrassing to try the sucker and can't do it. I thought I was stronger than that to be honest with you."

Here is his effort:

Williams was upset when North Carolina swingman Theo Pinson grabbed an offensive rebound and put up a shot rather than let the Tar Heels take more time off the clock.

“His 7 a.m. workouts must not be paying off,” North Carolina guard Joel Berry jokingly told the Charlotte Observer. “He might have to change something up.”

Williams undoubtedly was pleased with the final score: North Carolina beat Syracuse 78-59.
