Mizzou student who won date with tennis star is going to Super Bowl LII with her
Here is a lesson for all of us: Sometimes you’ve just got to take a chance. You never know what might happen.
In the case of Mizzou student John Goehrke, he tweeted at tennis star Genie Bouchard during last year’s Super Bowl and got her to agree to a date if the Patriots rallied to beat Atlanta. New England came back from a 28-3 deficit and won in overtime, and they had their date not long after.
In December, they saw each other again. And in a perfect bit of symmetry, now they are going to this year’s Super Bowl, which again includes the Patriots.
NFL Canada on Monday tweeted at Bouchard and Goehrke with an offer: “Hey, @geniebouchard and @punslayintwoods!
Be our guests at #SBLII?”

Be our guests at #SBLII?
Bouchard loved the idea.
She tweeted: “OMG. Back to where it all began?! And with the @Patriots too?! I’m in! What do you say @punslayintwoods?

Goehrke, who is listed as a senior at Mizzou, was on board as well. He tweeted: “This keeps getting better. I’m in!”

If the Falcons had held on and won last year’s Super Bowl, there is no way that Goehrke could have known he’d miss out on a chance to go to this year’s Super Bowl.
